Album information
NME announced the band were working on a new album in March 2006 [2]. Lead singer Caleb Followill said, "These songs are so much bigger, this band is so much better. There was a growth that people thought they heard on 'Aha Shake Heartbreak' from 'Youth And Young Manhood', but there's no comparison this time out. I think it's pretty evident when people hear it."[3] The title refers to a large UPC ministers conference held in Alexandria, Louisiana that the brothers attended often. [4] Moreover, lead singer Caleb Followill has said the title comes from the saying that "if an album does well it's 'because of the times' or if it bombs, it's 'because of the times'." Surprisingly, the album was not initially released on vinyl. However, two months after the album's release, it appeared on limited edition red vinyl, which was only available within the US. The first single, "On Call", was initially released for purchase on February 6, 2007 from iTunes.[5] It was then released by retailers on March 26, 2007 where it reached number 18 in the UK Singles Chart. The second single from the album is "Fans" and was released on July 9, 2007. This single includes the B-side "Woo Hoo". The third single,"Charmer", Was released October 29th. . [2] The album debuted at number 25 on the U.S. Billboard 200, selling about 42,000 copies in its first week.[6] It was #6 in NME albums of the year. As of the 20th of December 2007, The album has sold over 362,000 copies in the UK.
