Beall High School (pronounced "bell") was a public high school located in Frostburg, Maryland. It had an enrollment of more than 600 students from Frostburg, Mount Savage, Eckhart and Finzel. The school's mascot was the Mountaineer and the school colors were blue and gold.

History

The first Beall High School was actually constructed at the corner of College Avenue and Broadway. The first graduating class consisted of six female graduates in 1897. This building was then renovated in 1910; an addition was also added in 1930. By 1940, the community was in dire need of a much newer and larger facility, which led to the construction of the Beall High location at the east end of Frostburg known as "Eckhart Flat".

The "new" Beall High School was considered an architectural masterpiece. With it's art deco styling, the school was the first in the area to have air conditioning. In 2007, Westmar High School, Lonaconing, MD (which was the consolidation of Bruce High and Valley High) was consolidated with Beall High to begin a new era. The new school is Mountain Ridge High School and was built within the confines of the former Beall High Stadium. Old Beall has been razed to make room for new athletic fields. Mountain Ridge took the nickname of "The Miners" to pay homage to the people who established this region as the coal mining capital of Maryland.
