As Baron Montfort John de Montfort was summoned to parliament on June 23 1295. In 1367 the title either became extinct or fell into abeyance on the death of the third baron. The title was re-created as Baron Montfort, of Horseheath, county Cambridge in the Peerage of Ireland on 20 August 1741 for Henry Bromley. On the death of the 3rd Baron in 1851, the barony became extinct.
