Awa (阿波市 Awa-shi?) is a city located in Awa District, Tokushima Prefecture, Japan. Awa City was founded on April 1, 2005, when the town of Awa merged with the towns of Ichiba, Donari and Yoshino. Former Awa Town is now a part of Awa City. It is located in the former Awa Province (Tokushima). As of 2005, the town has an estimated population of 43,145 and a density of 226 persons per km². The total area is 190.97 km².
