The Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) is a professional organisation for the Australian library and information services sector. Based in Canberra, its membership is open to individuals and organisations, the only membership requirement is an interest in the sector. It was originally known as the Library Association of Australia; the name was changed in the late 1980s, during the recognition that many fields in which information was professionaly dealt with were becoming more interlinked.[1]
