Atthis is a legendary bird from the Obernewtyn Chronicles by Isobelle Carmody. Atthis is a female Agyllian or Guanette bird, and is referred to as Oldone and the Eldar of the Elder. Atthis is a survivor of the great white-the nuclear holocaust presetting the Chronicles plot. Her once red feathers, are now faded to a dull brown. She is blind and has milky white eyes, and the end of her beak is broken off. She is smaller than the other Agyllians. The majority of Atthis' powers are unknown as her powers are beyond those of ordinary Misfits. She has mastered the Dreamtrails and can place herself in people’s dreams. She also appears to be an extremely strong Farseeker and has a Future telling ability Atthis is the Eldar of the Elder, making her the leader of the Agyllians council. She foresaw that Elspeth would be the one to destroy the weapon machines, and sent a dream to Maruman, who then became Elspeth’s Guardian. In the book ‘The Farseekers’ Atthis sent a message to Elspeth via Maruman, who’s complicated mind allowed Atthis to use him as a messenger. After Elspeth sent Daffyd and Dragon to Obernewtyn at the end of ‘The Farseekers’, Atthis sent three of her fledglings (Astyanax, Illyx and Ruatha) to find Elspeth and bring her to the Agyllians Eyre, so she could be healed and told about her quest to save the world.
