The Association of Recovering Motorcyclists (.A.R.M.) is an independent motorcycle association that has existed since the mid 80's and currently has chapters in the United States, Canada, Australia, Sweden and Denmark. .A.R.M. is about Recovery (from drug and/or alcohol addiction) and Brotherhood. Members must meet certain standards of abstinence from drugs and alcohol in order to gain and retain membership status, and must own and maintain a motorcycle of 500 CC's or greater and member's are encouraged to be part of a 12 step organization. .A.R.M. and it's sister organization, Recovering Women Riders, (R.W.R.) do not publish head counts, however, they state "there is always room for one more". They are recognized as the two largest recovering motorcycle association's in the world.
