Bev Stanton

Arthur Loves Plastic or ALP is the performing name for Washington, DC based electronic music recording artist Bev Stanton. Stanton, (b. 1966) was born in the Bahamas and raised near Walt Disney World. She recorded ALP's first project, Sperm Warfare, in her basement, and it was released in Europe by Britain's TEQ Music. After TEQ folded, Stanton independently released well over a dozen CDs. Her early efforts at internet promotion prompted Keyboard Magazine to feature her in a cover story on indie-music promotion. Stanton was recently referred to as a "remix master" by the Washington Post. Stanton has won over a dozen Wammies (Washington D.C. Area Music Awards) in the Electronica category, including the 2006 Electronica Recording Wammie for the album Pursuit of Happiness. At the 2006 Wammies Stanton was also awarded Emeritus Standing in the Electronica Performing Artist (live) and Electronica DJ categories - an honour handed out to a select few artists which while acknowledging their continued success in the category, at the same time opens up the award to other up-and-coming artists. In 2007, "Feel the Love", "Boogie Bonnie Bell" and a brief bio for ALP were featured in the Geico Caveman marketing campaign's virtual Caveman's Crib. ALP tracks feature on the soundtrack of the Canadian feature film Apartment Story and short film Paradise Attempted. ALP tracks have also appeared in Access Hollywood, Extra: The Entertainment Magazine, America's Most Wanted, MTV's Undressed and Cribs, the Playboy TV's Sexy Girls Next Door, American Idol, and The Oprah Winfrey Show. Stanton also plays bass in the Baltimore band The Window Shoppers and is an honorary Space Dot. ALP's part-time vocalist, Lisa Moscatiello, featured 3 ALP tracks on her latest solo CD Trouble from the Start.
