Arnold Roth (born February 25 1929, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American freelance cartoonist. Roth cartoons have been published in numerous books and other publications. He drew the comic strip Poor Arnold's Almanac from 1959 to 1961 and again from 1989 to 1990. Novelist John Updike wrote "All cartoonists are geniuses, but Arnold Roth is especially so." He received the National Cartoonist Society Advertising and Illustration Award for 1982, 1984, and 1985, Illustration Award for 1976, 1979, and 1981, their Magazine and Book Illustration Award for 1986, 1987, and 1988, their Special Feature Award for 1979, their Sports Cartoon Award for 1976 and 1977, their Reuben Award for 1983, and their Gold Key Award (their Hall of Fame) in 2000.
