Anil Dash (pronounced /ɑːˈniːl ˈdæʃ/, born in September 1975) is an early and influential blogger who began his weblog in 1999. Previously an independent technology consultant, and a new media developer for the Village Voice, Dash was the first employee of, and now works as a Vice President (Chief Evangelist) for, Six Apart, the makers of Movable Type, TypePad, Vox, and owners of LiveJournal[1]. In 2003, Dash was one of four bloggers featured on the PBS series Media Matters. Dash was born and grew up near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. A long-time resident and vocal fan of New York City, he lived in San Francisco for a time but has now returned to New York City. Aside from his professional role at Six Apart, Dash participated in two prank-like activities that gained attention on the Internet: in 2004, he was the winner of the "nigritude ultramarine" search engine optimization contest, and in 2005 he was photographed and printed in the New York Times in a Threadless t-shirt mentioning the web site Goatse.cx.
