Andrea Fortunato (July 26, 1971 – April 25, 1995) was an Italian football player who played as a left-back for Juventus and the Italian national team. Fortunato was born in Salerno. He and Christian Panucci were performin really well at the back for Genoa C.F.C.. He played 33 games in the top-flight and scored 3 goals. He was an all-around left-back. He defended solidly, ran up and down the left flank and crossed in balls for the forwards. He was being compared to Paolo Maldini. He signed for Juventus from Genoa in summer of 1993, and such was his impression at Juventus that Arrigo Sacchi, head coach of the Italian team during that period, gave him a cap for the national team. In May 1994, he had been diagnosed a form of leukemia. He died at Perugia 11 months later from pneumonia, just a few days after he received a bone graft from his brother.
