Amares (pron. IPA: [ɐ'maɾɨʃ]) is a municipality in Portugal with a total area of 82.0 km² and a total population of 19,290 inhabitants. The municipality is composed of 24 parishes, and is located in the district of Braga. The present Mayor is José Gonçalves Barbosa, elected by the Socialist Party. The municipal holiday is June 13.
