Alexandra Forbes Kerry (born September 5, 1973) is the elder daughter of 2004 US Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry. Her mother is the late Julia Thorne, who was married to John Kerry from 1970 until 1988. The couple divorced in 1988 and the marriage was annulled in 1995. Kerry holds a B.A. from Brown University and an M.F.A. degree from AFI Conservatory. She had a minor acting role in the 2000 film State and Main, written and directed by David Mamet, and took a part in Mamet's 2004 film Spartan, playing a bartender. She also appeared as herself in the political satire Tanner on Tanner, written by Garry Trudeau and directed by Robert Altman. In 2004 she wrote and directed a short film, The Last Full Measure and another documentary directed by her, Maggie and Me, is in production. Alexandra has a younger sister, Vanessa Kerry. Both sisters were active in their father's 2004 Presidential campaign. At the Cannes Film Festival, Alexandra Kerry caused a stir when her black gown suddenly became see-through under the flashbulbs of the paparazzi.
