Agar is located at 44°50′19″N, 100°4′22″W (44.838678, -100.072869)GR1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.2 square miles (0.4 km²), all of it land. Agar has been assigned the ZIP code 57520, and the FIPS place code 00460.

Demographics

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 82 people, 41 households, and 22 families residing in the town. The population density was 487.8 people per square mile (186.2/km²). There were 54 housing units at an average density of 321.2/sq mi (122.6/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 98.78% White and 1.22% Native American. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.44% of the population. There were 41 households out of which 19.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.9% were married couples living together, 7.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 46.3% were non-families. 39.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 19.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.00 and the average family size was 2.64. In the town the population was spread out with 14.6% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 19.5% from 25 to 44, 32.9% from 45 to 64, and 24.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 49 years. For every 100 females there were 105.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 105.9 males. The median income for a household in the town was $28,125, and the median income for a family was $38,750. Males had a median income of $31,250 versus $12,083 for females. The per capita income for the town was $21,812. There were no families and 7.1% of the population living below the poverty line, including no under eighteens and 6.9% of those over 64.
