ABC or Multi-Purpose dry chemical is a dry chemical extinguishing agent. It utilizes a specially fluidized and siliconized mono ammonium phosphate powder. It insulates Class A fires by melting at approximately 350-400 degrees F and coats the surface to which it is applied and breaks the chain reaction of Class B fires and is a non-conductor of electricity. Sizes of these handheld fire extinguishers ranges from 2 1/2lb., 5lb., 6lb., 10lb., 20lb. and "Fast Flow" and cartridge operated 30lb. extinguishers. Wheeled extinguishers used in high hazard areas range from 150lb. - 350lb. For stationary handline systems the capacities range from 500 lb. - 3000 lb. units.

  • DO NOT apply ABC dry chemical to a chlorine or oxidizer fire, the resulting chemical reaction can cause an explosion or a breakdown of the chemicals releasing toxic gases.
  • ABC Dry chemical is more corrosive than sodium bicarbonate dry chemical or Purple-K dry chemical and should not be used around aircraft or sensitive equipment.
