A.C. Reynolds High School is a public secondary school located in Asheville, NC near I-240 and Charlotte Highway. The address is 1 Rocket Drive, Asheville, NC 28803.

It is part of the Buncombe County Schools System. In 1955 three schools, Haw Creek, Fairview and Oakley, consolidated to establish A.C. Reynolds High School. The school was named for former principal and superintendent A.C. Reynolds. In 1976, the current facility was erected across the street from the old facility. After the high school moved into this new building, the original building became the middle school. The high school has two feeder schools - Cane Creek Middle School and A.C. Reynolds Middle School. Cane Creek Middle School, located on the Fairview/Fletcher border, also feeds into T. C. Roberson High School.

50 Year Anniversary

In the spring of 2006, Reynolds celebrated its 50th anniversary. Several alumni, former teachers, and government officials attended the ceremony. Ceremonies included a "walk through time," interviews with alumni, and the creation of a 50 year time capsule.

Student Involvement

Student leaders serve in important capacities throughout the school. Members from the student council and other clubs or organizations within the school organize fundraisers for charities, raffles, dances, and other events. The president of the student council for 2007-08 is Sarah Varner, and the vice president is Heather Williams. The president and vice president advise the School Leadership Team, PTSO, and the advisory council for the Buncombe County Board of Education. Selected students were also interviewed by representatives of the SACS-CASI accreditation board in the fall of 2006. From February to August of 2006, President Adam King led a local campaign to add a non-voting student adviser onto the Buncombe County (N.C.) Board of Education. His project had the support of the Asheville Citizen-Times and over 60 faculty members and administrators from this high school. However, in August, the Board of Education rejected his proposal citing that they already had sufficient student input. During his campaign, King made several appearances in the media.
