éS Footwear (pronounced like the letter s) is an American footwear brand started in 1995 by Pierre André Senizergues of Sole Technology, Inc., which also owns etnies, Emerica ThirtyTwo snowboard boots and Altamont Apparel. éS was developed as a more technically-oriented line compared to etnies and other brands at the time, in both aesthetic and function. Skateboard pro Sal Barbier left etnies and joined éS to launch the brand and design shoes, and brought his popular Sal 23 model to éS, as well. éS Footwear's most popular shoe, the Accel, was released in 1996, and is to this day the brand's strongest selling model. In Spring 2006, éS lost their last original team member and highest profile rider, Eric Koston, to Lakai Footwear. Longtime team rider Tom Penny also left to ride for Supra in 2005.
