TOSEFTA

Works by the *tannaim. The Tosefta dates from the 2nd Century CE and has the same six orders as the *Mishnah. Some passages, the *Beraitot, parallel passages found in the Mishnah, but the Tosefta also includes new material. The origin of the work is unknown, but it was presumably intended as a supplement to the Mishnah.
