STEP AERATION

A variation of the activated sludge process.

Wastewater is introduced at points along the aeration tank in order to even out the oxygen demand and keep the sludge reaerated in the presence of substrate (food). As a result, the process is more active biologically and does not go into the endogenous phase near the end of the aeration tank.
