Personal item belonging to the victim of a violent crime that is taken by the offender, e.g., jewelry, clothing, a photograph, or driver’s license.

The item serves as a reminder of a pleasurable encounter and may be used for masturbatory fantasies. The offender who takes a souvenir is usually an inadequate person who is likely to keep it for a long time or give it to a significant other. Also known as a trophy.
