somatotropin

A HORMONE produced by the anterior pituitary gland located at the base of the brain. It is associated with growth. Bovine Somatotropin (BST) has been produced artificially and used, particularly in the USA, as a way of increasing milk production in cattle. It is not licensed for use in the European Union.
