On Simhat Torah, the annual cycle of *Torah readings is completed and a new start is made. This is accompanied by much rejoicing. The Torah is carried in procession seven times round the *bimah of the synagogue and hymns of praise are sung. In *Hasidic worship, the celebration involves dancing as well as music.
