(from Latin, secare: to cut) The verb, to section, is the act of cutting; as a noun, a section is that which has been cut.
In biological psychology the term section typically refers to a slice of tissue, only micrometres thick, that has been cut on a MICROTOME or in a CRYOSTAT, and which will be prepared for HISTOLOGY.
