Raphael

(Hebrew=blessing from God) In the Old Testament Apocrypha, the angelic travelling companion of the young Tobias. Later, he became the patron saint of pilgrims and travellers—indeed, the embodiment of the protective angel in general.

He is regarded as one of the four (or seven) archangels. It has been suggested that his name is connected with that of the → Rephaim.
