Marriage to several wives. Although polygamy seems to have been common in *Biblical times, it was formally forbidden by Gershom b. Judah in c.1000 CE. In fact his ban only reflected the current state of affairs. Polygamy has not been practised among the *Jews for at least two thousand years.
