Parallelogram method

Graphic method by which vectors can be added. The two vectors are laid off graphically to scale in proper directions from a common starting point.

They form two adjacent sides of a parallelogram. Drawing the two opposite sides meeting at the far end of the diagram then completes the parallelogram. The diagonal of the parallelogram is the resultant of the two original quantities both in length and in direction.
