*Biblical book of *prophecy. The Book of Obadiah is generally dated in the late 7th/early 6th century BCE.
It includes oracles of woe against Edom, particularly for the Edomite’s support of the Babylonians. The final section which may be a later addition, promises the future triumph of the *Israelites. There are many similarities between the work of Obadiah and that of *Jeremiah.
