A condition in which handwriting (see WRITING) is much reduced in size, though the style (that is an individual’s particular style of handwriting) and content is preserved.
It is associated with motor disorders, most notably PARKINSON’S DISEASE. In this condition it is thought to give evidence that existing motor programmes (see MOTOR PROGRAMMING) are intact, though their execution may be made more difficult by the disease.
