Liberal Judaism was founded by Lily Montagu and Claud Montefiore. It is the most radical of the English movements and, arguably, closest to American *Reform. Liberal *synagogues are affiliated to the Union of Liberal and Progressive Synagogues which together with the English Reform Synagogues of Great Britain maintain the Leo Baeck College (the English Progressive *rabbinical seminary).
