(1st Century CE) Historian. Although initially Josephus fought for the rebels in the *Jewish War, he surrendered to the Romans in 67CE and accompanied them to the siege of *Jerusalem. His two major works, The Antiquities and the Jewish War are our major source of knowledge of the Jewish history of the Second *Temple period.
