ISSERLES, MOSES BEN

(Rema) (c1530–1572) *Halakhist. Isserles was one of the great legal authorities of his day and was known as the ‘*Maimonides of Polish Jewry’. His supplement to Joseph Caro’s *Shulhan Arukh made that work acceptable to *Ashkenazi Jewry and his rulings are regarded as binding.
