Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU)

The Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) is the umbrella organization for trade unions in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Founded in 1894, today it represents the interests of around 754,000 employees who are organized in 56 affiliated unions on both sides of the border. ICTU is itself affiliated to ETUC. ICTU currently campaigns to improve living standards and wages and to promote trade union recognition and worker participation and social partnership. It also works to promote the peace process in Northern Ireland.
