Half-brother, Half-sister
Half-brothers or sisters share only one parent. The relationship is rarely alluded to vocatively, but a young man in Absolute Beginners, by Colin MacInnes, makes use of ‘half-brother’, to his step-brother as it happens. The latter relationship comes about when a man or woman already has a son and marries someone who also has a son or daughter.
