Dictionary of Biological Psychology

frontal cortex

The CEREBRAL CORTEX is divided into four lobes based on structural landmarks.

Thus frontal cortex and the FRONTAL LOBE are the same thing. The term FRONTAL CORTEX has sometimes been used to refer only to granular areas of the frontal lobe (that is, the frontal cortex excluding the MOTOR CORTEX and PREMOTOR CORTEX—see AGRANULAR CORTEX) but such usage is ambiguous and therefore not preferred.
