Dictionary of Biological Psychology
An allele of a particular gene on one member of an autosomal pair of CHROMOSOMES, which will contribute to the PHENOTYPE of its encoded protein (see PROTEINS), and hence that of the organism, regardless of the form of allele present on the second chromosome.
If two co-dominant alleles of a single gene exist, the resultant phenotype will be a mix of the two characteristics encoded for by these alleles.
