Blavatsky, Helena Petrovna

Born Russia, midnight 30/31 July, 1831. Co-founder with Col. Olcott (q.v.) of Theosophical Society; author of Isis Unveiled, The Secret Doctrine, The Key to Theosophy, The Voice of the Silence, etc. Declared herself a Buddhist at Galle (Ceylon) in 1880 and inspired the Buddhist revival in Ceylon.

d. 8 May, 1891, London. Accusations of deceit made by agent of S.P.R. were withdrawn. See W.Kingsland, The Real H.P.Blavatsky.
