Battered child syndrome

Medical condition, occurring in infants and young children, in which there is evidence of repeated injury inflicted by others to the nervous system, skin, or skeletal system. Frequently, the child’s medical history, as given by the caregiver, does not adequately explain the injuries. Many courts recognize this syndrome as an accepted medical diagnosis.
