International Dictionary of Adult and Continuing Education

attitude

1. A predisposition to perceive, feel and behave towards specific objects or certain people in a particular manner. Attitudes are learned from experience, rather than innate characteristics, which suggests that they can be modified. Traits, which are more persistent and general personality characteristics, are thought to be more the product of innate constitution.

2. An orientation towards some phenomenon, having cognitive, affective, evaluative, and conative components. 3. A combination of a perception and a judgement, which may result in an emotive orientation towards a phenomenon. 4. Attitudes often occur as the third dimension of syllabi in professional education curricula, along with knowledge and skills.
