APOCALYPSE

(Greek. ‘Revelation’). Revelations of the end of time and the last judgement. Apocalyptic literature deals with such subjects as *heaven, the future of this world, the activities of *angels and the *soul’s future existence. Most Jewish apocalyptic writing was produced between the 2nd Century BCE and the 2nd Century CE and there are several examples in the *Apocrypha.
