The Narrator from "Your Duck Is My Duck"

The narrator from "Your Duck Is My Duck," is a painter who is lost in the artistic struggle to create. Feeling detached from her art, frustrated with her job, and disillusioned with her broken romance, she loses herself in partying and distraction. After she meets a wealthy couple, Ray and Christa, she accepts their offer to stay at their beach house. Tired of her current reality, she believes the trip will grant her a psychological, emotional, and artistic cleansing.

While at her new friends' beach house, the narrator becomes lost in the extravagance of Ray and Christa's world, growing even further detached from her former reality. Amos, another artist staying at the house, however, challenges the narrator's avoidance maneuvers when he reveals the truth of Ray and Christa's exploitation of the place in which they are staying.
