Life According to Ben Part IV begins as Ben enters an office at school and meets Mrs. Carlile. He says he wants to sign up for the student council, but the deadline was the day before. She says everything is done in the main office and she is the Attendance office. Ben asks what happens here and she says it is where people come when they miss school or are late, to which he says he never is. She tells him he can get the perfect attendance award at the end of the year, then says he needs to hurry to class, but not before picking up the student council forms.
