Chapter 13 Summary

Jody awakens in Grandma Hutto's spare bedroom, convinced he has dreamed the fighting. Only when he tries to turn his head does the pain assure him that he has been in a real fight. It is afternoon now, and Grandma and Penny are watching over him. Pa has a black eye and a bandaged wrist, and Jody learns that Oliver has survived and is resting also. When Penny commends Jody for his loyalty to Oliver, Jody recalls that the Forresters are his friends too. Penny announces that this will likely be the end of the relationship, but Jody is already making secret plans to see Fodder Wing again. Oliver has betrayed them, Jody thinks, by giving something of the family to the yellow-haired Twink. Still, he knows he would fight for Oliver again.....
