Summary

Chapter 29, Lillian – This chapter occurs in the present. It takes Lillian six weeks to recover from the pregnancy, she tells Genevieve. Lillian finds it difficult to talk about Paul, including the fact that he had begun to smile the day before he died. Genevieve then asks Lillian why she is lying, that it is clear she didn’t arrive on the island pregnant as she has told everyone. Jerry interrupts, saying enough is enough. He says he is speaking as her lawyer, and tells her she will be sued if anything she has just asked airs on the program. Genevieve relents. Lillian is amazed that Jerry has saved her.

This makes Lillian reflect on how Jerry arrived unexpectedly at the awards dinner weekend, confronting her and Dave, preventing them from continuing any affair. Lillian remembers how they denied it. She remembers how Jerry and...
