Summary

On pages 226-232, Rachel and Henry sit by the beach and discuss the ocean. When they return to the bookshop, they find Henry’s mom crying because she already sold the bookshop. She says that Henry should have changed his mind earlier, and the truth comes out that Henry only told her not to sell that very morning. They change the subject to books, and whether souls can move from one body to another.

Henry reflects from pages 233-240. He feels ashamed— that he decided to sell the bookshop, that he wanted to be like Greg Smith, that he chose Amy over Rachel. Meanwhile, life goes on. They head to Lola’s last show, and gently convince her to invite Hiroko to perform with her. Rachel sees Henry in distress, and admits that she loves him. He is about to say it back...
