Summary

Part 3: Casting Off, 25 – 30

In Chapter 25, Juliette and Peter get another suicide warning. Juliette recognizes the office and floor number. The scroll Scottie had given her falls into her trash can. As she hurries out of the office, Peter answers another alert, then tells her that he has to arrest her. She is a suspect in Scottie’s death.

In Chapter 26, Bernard tells her she is not being held in conjunction with Scottie’s death but instead for unlawful entry into IT and tampering with IT property. Juliette is intelligent enough to know that Bernard has manufactured the charges in order to get her out of the way. She also refers to the Pact, which states Bernard can’t be head of IT and mayor at the same time. He allows Juliette to go free asking only that she go back the Mechanical...
