Summary

Part 3 begins with Ben arriving at Kincaid’s. He enters and walks around trying to find someone who can help him. When he cannot find anyone, Ben sits on a staircase and patiently waits for someone to arrive. Rose’s illustrated narrative has shifted to 1977. Rose, as an old woman, is seen walking through the streets of New York eventually arriving at Kincaid’s. When Rose enters the shop Ben immediately recognizes her as the woman he saw looking at the wolf diorama at the museum. Rose walks to the front counter and starts conversing in sign language with an old man who just walked into the room. Ben becomes so engrossed in watching the old man and Rose sign back and forth he loses his balance and falls down the stairs. When Rose comes over to check on Ben she...
