Summary

In 1927, after placing her note on top of the meteorite Rose is castigated by a security guard. She frighteningly runs away and dashes through various sections of the museum to escape the guard, eventually running past a line of people waiting to get into some sort of new exhibition. In 1977, Ben is dumbfounded at the diorama of the wolves from his hometown: “How was this possible? The wolves couldn’t be here…but they were. He was staring at them with his own eyes” (366). Ben notices an old woman staring at the wolf diorama when suddenly a boy emerges and startles Ben. The boy has Ben’s museum box (Ben had dropped it on the front steps of the museum).
