Chapter 23 Summary

Glinda the Good turns out to be both beautiful and kind. She listens to Dorothy's story and agrees to tell her how to get back to Kansas. In exchange for granting Dorothy's wish, Glinda asks for the Golden Cap.

Glinda will use the Cap to command the Winged Monkeys to take the Scarecrow back to the Emerald City so he can rule there. She will then send some of the Monkeys to carry the Tin Woodman west to the land of the Winkies where he will serve as their kind-hearted ruler. Finally, she will ask the Monkeys to take the Lion back to his forest kingdom. She then plans to return the Golden Cap to the leader of the Monkeys so that they will be free from being ruled by its owner.
