Chapter 20 Summary

"There are worse things in the world than being a Scarecrow." That is the now wise Scarecrow's conclusion after the friends travel through the land of dainty china. The Tin Woodsman builds a ladder so they can all climb the over the wall that protects the small country. When they reach the top of wall and peer into the land they each say, "Oh, My!"

Before them lies a land filled with living china figurines. The figurines are beautiful and delicate but also very fragile. Once Dorothy and her friends have climbed over the wall, they quickly learn they are not welcome in the country. The figurines are dreadfully afraid that the strangers will break themeither accidentally or on purpose.
