Chapter 19 Summary

The four friends once again leave the Emerald City, this time headed south. The first day of their journey is very pleasant and they sleep peacefully under the stars. On the second day of their new journey, they approach woods. When the Scarecrow tries to enter the woods, a tree grabs him and flings him away. The Tin Woodman leads the way and cuts a branch off the tree that tries to grab him.

The travelers make their way past the tree guards and trek safely through the woods. When they reach the other side, they encounter a new obstacle; a high wall made of white china.
